On Saturday, November 9, 2024, the “Prix Suisse” was awarded to Büne Huber at a large gala dinner hosted by Initiative Switzerland in the Kursaal Bern. The Prix Suisse, a national award that was presented for only the fourth time, is the highest accolade for outstanding achievements in Switzerland.
Dear Büne
Musically, what you offer is simply magnificent.
As a hobby musician, I would take my hat off if I had one. You also conjure up these incredible lyrics out of your hat.
Federal Councillor Beat Jans - Laudator
In an exclusive Fireside Chat with Sandra Studer, world-renowned historian and bestselling author Yuval Noah Harari spoke about his latest book Nexus, in which he takes an in-depth look at the intersection between technology, humanity and ethics. Harari shed light on the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence and questioned how technology influences our social structures, identities and freedom of choice. The fascinating interview provided insights into Harari's vision of a future in which humans and machines are ever more closely linked and invites reflection on responsibility, innovation and the limits of human control.
Yuval Noah Harari and Philipp M. Hildebrand discussed the impact of the US elections with Sandra Studer.
Not only the economic consequences but also the socio-economic effects on the country and the international context were addressed.
The Prix Suisse, which this year was dedicated entirely to the theme of “Art and Culture”, incorporated more of these elements into this year's edition. In addition to more serious topics, there was also a show block with Ronja Borer and her dancers, who warmed up the guests for the evening's highlight, Patent Ochsner.
The kitchen team from Ristorante Da Enzo in Tegna prepared the “Fantasia del Lago maggiore” menu for around 420 guests in the Kursaal Bern, bringing a touch of Ticino and outstanding Mediterranean cuisine to Bern.

The True Story Award and the True Story Festival are supported by the non-profit True Story Foundation, which campaigns for media freedom and quality journalism worldwide. This initiative was founded and initiated by the two journalists Rocio and Daniel Puntas Bernet in 2019 and has since developed into an internationally recognized journalism award.
Initiative Switzerland and the F.G. Pfister Kultur- und Sozialstiftung have supported the project since 2023.
Your health is unique - and so should your medical care.
Gender medicine is innovating the way diseases are diagnosed, treated and prevented. This innovative discipline takes into account the gender-specific differences in the biology of the human body, as well as gender-specific roles and lifestyles. It describes the differences in disease symptoms between the sexes in order to develop customized health solutions for women and men.
Initiative Switzerland supports and promotes the “Swiss Gender Medicine Symposium” project, which was initiated by the University of Zurich and will in future be supported by various university medical institutions, and is helping to set up a national network and launch the planned symposium.
Not entirely unexpectedly, the prizewinner Büne Huber took the opportunity to perform a “best of” their songs together with the entire band. The artist's trademark that evening was a little surprise gift to Büne, and so all the guests, wearing a typical straw hat, sang along loudly to “W.Nuss vo Bümpliz” at the latest.
